Let the children come to me

But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.

Luke 18:16

Hey kids!

Nice to have you here!

I want to tell you a story…

It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day in Galilee. Jesus and his disciples – his best friends – were travelling to tell people about God. When they arrived at a good place, Jesus sat down and spoke to some people. In the distance, some mums approached with their children. They wanted to see Jesus. But the disciples saw things differently…
Disciples: What do you want here?
Mum: We want to ask Jesus to bless our children. Please let us through.
Disciple: No way! The Master is busy and doesn’t want to be disturbed. And children have no business here – they’re far too loud!
Mum: Please! The children are quiet too. I promise!
Disciple: No way! Now get out of here!
Jesus: Hey, guys! What’s going on?
Disciple: The women here want to come to you with their brats! I told them to leave!
Jesus: Oh man! You should know that I like children – let them through.

The children rushed joyfully to Jesus, who took them in his arms. He blessed them, talked to them and it was really funny. The mums were happy and the disciples looked quite puzzled. Jesus said: „You know what? The kingdom of heaven belongs to the children because they trust me and believe in me – no ifs, ands or buts. You should do the same!“

And it turned out to be a wonderful afternoon.
(loosely based on Mark 10:13-16)

Jesus loves you! He wants to be your friend. Even if you are still a small child. You are a very precious person to Him! Jesus rejoices with you when you are happy. He cries with you when you are sad. He is always there for you!

Did you know that…

…Jesus came into the world as a baby just like you and was a child just like you?

Jesus loves you!

Yesu yagamba“ leka abaana baaje jendi, temubalemesa kubanga yekaalu ya mukama beyetaaga“.
