What you intend to do will not be achieved by the power of an army or by human strength: No, my Spirit will bring it about! This I promise you, the Lord God Almighty.
Zechariah 4:6a
Energy Revolution.
A keyword that everyone in Germany has certainly heard before. Everyone associates different feelings and thoughts with it. Some are fully in favour, others reject it and still others fear for their livelihood if energy becomes expensive. Regardless of how you feel about it, a change is taking place that is having a major impact on our lives. Be it energy prices of all energy sources, be it changing landscapes due to wind turbines or solar parks or be it public debates through to climate stickers and new laws. Energy is the fuel for our mobile phones and industry, for vehicles and so on.
And ultimately, we need a sensible way of using clean, sustainable energy sources to protect people and the environment. Because it seems that nobody really wants to give up their standard of living and use less energy. That’s a bit tricky, because developments in more economical technologies can’t be pulled out of thin air within two months…

Which energy sources do we tap into?
There is another energy revolution. One that is currently taking place and one that is urgently needed.
The one that is taking place is the turning away from God. For several hundred years, and today at an extremely accelerated pace, we have been turning away more and more from the good „energy“ of God. He does not interest us. Or He only disturbs us. Many people live without God and don’t care. They abandon the source of life. And if God doesn’t play a role and fills and guides people with His Holy Spirit and gives them strength, they have to tap into other sources of energy:
Sources of energy within yourself. Rest within yourself. Your inner strength comes from you. Treat yourself to something. You deserve it. Optimise your life. Only do what you enjoy. Stay away from people who are stressful.
Or we draw energy from other people whom we admire, love, idolise or follow.
Perhaps also of other gods and idols such as wealth, power, beauty, climate, eating styles, hobbies, material things, …
Ultimately, this makes everything arbitrary – there is no longer a common moral standard – and we leave the good ways of God that He shows us. Everyone decides for themselves what is good and what is evil and raises their moral standpoint above others. But this will not work for society and humanity in the long term.
A city flourishes through the blessings that honest people bring it, but the words of the wicked are its downfall.
Proverbs11:11
The more godless people, the more crime. But those who trust God will see the downfall of these people.
Proverbs 29:16
For as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man. For as they were in the days before the flood – eating, drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day Noah entered the ark; and they did not pay attention until the flood came and took them all away – so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Matthew 24:37-39
The Result
We can see in the world where all this leads. Selfishness, lies and deceit, wars, violence, drug abuse, greed for money and power, ever more extremely liberal, boundless sexual morality, abortion, hatred of those who think differently, …
Well, you could say it used to be like that. But it seems to me that it’s getting worse and worse.
It is not a good spirit that prevails today. Such things do not come from God. Instead, they have their source of energy from God’s adversary: Satan.
The devil is, so to speak, the fossil energy source that provides us with what we want, but also destroys it. God, on the other hand, provides the energy without destroying – solar energy, so to speak. (yes, comparative images are always a bit of a limp, I know 😊)
What we need is a different spiritual energy turnaround: A turn towards God and His power. He is the source of life. He leads us on a good path.
If everyone acted as Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, many of humanity’s problems would be solved in one fell swoop. Simply following this statement would work wonders:
Always treat people the way you would like them to treat you.
Matthew 7:12a
If we were to tap into the Holy Spirit as our source of strength, our dealings with our fellow human beings would be different:
In contrast, the Spirit of God produces only good things in our lives: love, joy and peace; patience, kindness and goodness; faithfulness, forbearance and self-control. Is that the case with you? Then no law can demand anything of you!
Galatians 5:22-23
If we allowed God the Father to mould us as a potter (cf. Isaiah 64:7), our lives would be better:
By this you can recognise that the Lord your God means well with you. He raises you like a father raises his children. Therefore, heed his instructions! Live in a way that pleases him and be in awe of him!
Genesis 8,5-6

Putting God first so that we can tap into His power is the energy revolution we need!
